To be eligible for funding through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), you must:  

• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a protected person  
• Be a resident of Ontario 
• Be enrolled in an OSAP eligible program 
• Meet course load requirements (see What is the course load threshold for OSAP for more details) 
• Demonstrate financial need 

There are other factors that may impact your OSAP eligibility, including but not limited to:  

• Academic progress requirements 
• Previous default on a student loan 
• Outstanding loan overpayments 
• A failed credit check
