Why is there a hold on my account?

Upon requesting certain services, you may come to realize that there is a hold on your account. There are a few different reasons as to why there is a hold on your account:

  1. Outstanding balance hold
  2. International study permit hold
  3. Student rights and responsibilities hold

1. Outstanding balance hold

Your tuition deadline for the Spring/Summer 2024 term is May 31, 2024. If your payment has not been received by May 31st, a hold and a late fee of $150 may be placed on your account. We advise that you make your payment as soon as possible to ensure you have access to the following services listed below. If you need further extensions, connect with Student Advisement at askanadvisor@sheridancollege.ca

2. International study permit hold

This hold is placed on the accounts of international students who have yet to submit their study permit. Until your permit has been submitted, you will not be able to receive/create your timetable. If you have not done so already, please upload your study permit. The last date to add a class is May 17th, 2024. You will not be able to receive a timetable after this date.

When a hold is placed on your account, you will be unable to access the following services:

  • Enrol in a new semester
  • Receive/create your timetable
  • Request any letters from the college (Enrolment verification letter, Scheduled break letter, Completion/Grad letter, etc.)
  • Request a transcript
  • Unable to view grades
  • Receive your diploma/degree upon completion of your program

3. Student rights and responsibilities hold

This hold is an indication that you are required to meet with a Student Rights and Responsibilities Officer. The cause and the removal of the hold can be discussed once you have connected with the Student Rights and Responsibilities Officer. This hold does not restrict any services.
