Is counselling confidential?

Counselling is a private conversation between you and your counsellor. It's important to know that your conversations are kept confidential. However, there are some situations where your counsellor may need to share your information. This includes the following situations:

  • As the student, you have signed a release of information, allowing your counsellor to speak to another service provider that you’ve identified to provide coordinated service and care.

Before you begin working with your counsellor, they will talk to you about confidentiality and answer any questions you may have.
