I would like to drop a course(s). Who should I talk to?

If you are thinking about dropping a course(s), there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • How dropping courses can affect your OSAP (if you are a domestic student)
  • Whether the course you are thinking of dropping is a prerequisite for a course offered in a future semester
  • When this course may be offered again (keeping in mind that not all courses are offered each semester)
  • Deadlines to consider (e.g., the last day to withdraw without academic penalty)
  • If you drop a course(s) before Day 10 of the semester, you may be eligible for a partial refund. If Day 10 of the semester has passed, there will be no refund.
  • For international students: if dropping courses made you become a part-time student, how would this affect your Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
  • How this can affect your academic progression (program map)
  • How this affects your co-op eligibility

Before you make the decision to drop a course, you can connect with your professor and Student Advisement to become informed on the implications. To speak with a Student Advisor, please email askanadvisor@sheridancollege.ca OR book an appointment.

If you are an international student, and you would like to know of any immigration implications of becoming a part-time student due to dropping courses, you can book an appointment to speak with an International Student Advisor either virtually or in person.

Once you have made the decision to drop a course, you can do so on your myStudentCentre by following the instructions on MyOTR. If you require further assistance, you can email registration@sheridancollege.ca
