Understanding compressed courses

Compressed courses refer to a course that runs for half the amount of time as a regular session course. A course that runs for the regular session will last for 14 weeks. Reading week will be held during week 8 of the term.

Compressed courses are split between two session:

  • Compressed Session A: Weeks 1-7 of a regular session
  • Compressed Session B: Weeks 9-15 of a regular session

Important dates for each term can be found on the Academic Calendar. Deadlines for adding, swapping, dropping, and appealing for courses are different if you are enrolled in a compressed session course.

If you are enrolled in a full-time course load and are taking a compressed session course, it will not impact your full-time status. You will continue to remain a full-time student.
