Students can absolutely take electives ahead of time to lighten their course load for the PJS Diploma come September. 

For January, some good options are: PHIL 1110, POLI 1110, any 1000 level elective (SOCI 1110, ANTH 1210, HIST, GEOG, PSYC, etc.)

They cannot take CMNS 1980 prior to CMNS 1980 and they cannot take CMNS 1980 without being admitted into the PJS Diploma. Although the diploma is a cohort based program, it isn’t mandatory that students take five courses each semester with the same group of students. Getting ahead is a great idea and this student will still be a part of a cohort when they attend in September.
