How do I get an override into a course?
Circumstances may arise where you are unable to register for a course you need to take. In most cases, you will require an override to register in the course. Overrides are granted through the Department offering the course and are subject to their approval (see Departmental contact information). Overrides are generated on a case by case basis and are not guaranteed. Students requesting an override should contact the appropriate teaching Department directly. The Office of the Registrar cannot issue overrides. Once an override is granted, it is the student’s responsibility to register for the course. You can contact the Department that is offering the course for the override.

Why can't I see my courses on Sakai?
Instructors can choose when to publish their Isaak/Sakai sites and many choose not to post until the very start of term. If you are not able to see your Isaak/Sakai sites after the start of term do the following: 1) Confirm your continued registration in the course by checking on your Brock Student Portal (https://my.brocku.ca) ; 2) Ensure you have checked the “Sites” area at the top right of Sakai. Sites do not always automatically appear at the top bar of Sakai.  ; 3) Email your instructor to ensure that they have actually published their site. Instructors not publishing their sites is the most common cause of student being unable to see their sites in Sakai.

How do I change my major?
For information about changing your major, you will need to connect with your Academic Advisor. Please book an appointment with your academic advisor to discuss your options: https://brocku.ca/academic-advising/find-your-advisor/. The change of major form can be found online at: https://brocku.ca/registrar/toolkit/forms/#changes-appeals . Once signed by your Academic Advisor, the form must be sent to Records@brocku.ca.

How do I drop a course?
Students are free to add or drop courses through the online registration system without financial penalty (unless all courses are dropped-see below) while the system is open (see the appropriate registration guide for details). Dropped courses do not appear on the student transcript. Students who drop all courses between the start of term date and the drop date will be charged a full drop fee calculated at $100 per credit dropped to a maximum of $500. This also applies to students who may be granted back dated drops through the registrar’s or Dean’s office.

How do I withdrawal from a course?
After the posted drop date, students may withdraw from courses online via the student portal at my.brocku.ca. Withdrawn courses appear on the student transcript, along with the date of withdrawal. The final date to withdraw from courses without academic penalty is posted in the appropriate registration guide. Please note that the final date to withdraw without academic penalty is not the same as the final date to drop without financial penalty. All withdrawals have financial penalties.
