A free, 8-week basic parenting program for families with children 6 years and under, who are required to take a parenting course (may be involved with FACS). Custody of the child is not required.

2. Positive Parenting Program Group (Children 2-12 years old)

In this personal and thorough program about parenting in a positive way, you'll learn parenting strategies you can use and adapt to suit your family's needs. During this program, you'll spend eight hours of time with a public health nurse over two to four virtual group sessions; work with your public health nurse on learning goals; set your own goals and work out what changes you would like to see in your child's behaviour. A workbook is provided to help you record your goals and achievements. Throughout the program, parents will practice the suggestions and tips with their children. Therefore, the Positive Parenting Program Group is best suited for families with partial or full custody of their children.

4. Positive Parenting Program Primary Care (Parents with Children 2-12 years old)

Primary care is a very private and quick way to get positive parenting support that targets the exact parenting concern or issue you are having. You (and your partner if you wish) will meet with a Triple P provider about four times. You could have more sessions or fewer sessions, depending on what you want and need. Each session usually takes between 15-30 minutes.

5. Strengthening Families for the Future (John Howard Society)

A free 14-week relationship-based parenting program for families with children of all ages. Families may be at risk (e.g., substance misuse, depression, violence, delinquency, school failure) or in need of extra support. Individual and family counselling, dinner, and childcare is provided during each session. Clients can self-refer.

6. Triple P Stepping Stones (Bethesda)

A 9-week caregiver education course that focuses on developing parent skills. Recommended for caregivers new to their child’s diagnosis of autism or another developmental disability.
